Sarah Destination Wedding, Make it Posh 1 Comment

It seems inconceivable to a beach lover like me, but there are a good number of people around who do not love the sand and sun (gasp!). Lucky for them, there are many romantic venues and resorts around the world that offer the perfect settings for exchanging I Do’s. Below are five of our favorite non-beach wedding locations.

Quebec, Canada

Known for its history, architecture, and culture, French-speaking Quebec feels like one of the great European cities, just closer to home, perfect for your destination wedding. Take your pick from sleek urban hotels, world-class resorts and spas, scenic chateaus – even a hotel featuring enormous ice vaults and ice sculptures. There is nothing “typical” about a destination wedding in Quebec.

Edinburgh, Scotland

If you find yourself obsessed with the latest royal weddings and always envisioning yourself on the grounds of one of the great UK estates, Scotland may be the wedding destination for you. Historic Edinburgh, Scotland features majestic castles converted into luxury hotels with renowned spas and services. You don’t have to travel far to gaze out over the moors or spend time relaxing in a pub with your very closest friends and family. Scotland offers the best of tradition with the convenience of modern amenities.

Reykjavik, Iceland

If you want a wedding unlike anything your friends have ever experienced, up-and-coming wedding and travel destination Iceland is a safe bet for originality. They call it the land of fire and ice. In a very short span of time you can find yourself trekking atop a glacier, then headed for some relaxation in a natural thermal hot spring. You might even considering a getaway wedding in the most northern city in the world, Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavik.

New York City, New York

New York has a special magic, drawing couples from around the globe – and around the US – to it for elopements and destination weddings year round. Nothing is impossible in New York. From an intimate Central Park ceremony to a Five-Star extravaganza worthy of celebrities, only your imagination limits the possibilities.

Ontario, Canada

Ontario is home to Niagara Falls, one of the most iconic honeymoon spots in history. Did you know it is also a highly popular destination for weddings? Not only can you exchange your vows while overlooking the incredible crashing falls – you can even say I Do on a private helicopter tour! A visit to Niagara falls is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for most travelers, making it an attractive destination for both couples and their guests.

I can’t deny the lure of sunset on a beach, but I am glad to ensure those of you who would rather seek out a different kind of beauty that the world is full of incredible destinations just waiting to fulfill your wedding dreams.
