Last-Minute Planning: To Do List for the Night Before Your Wedding

Morgan Make it Posh, Weddings Leave a Comment

After months of wedding planning, you have reached the night before your trip down the aisle! You’re a little nervous, kind of tired, and a lot excited. Your friends are starting to arrive from out of town and you get to check the really big stuff off your list. There’s nothing left to do, right?
Unfortunately, not quite right.
After the rehearsal dinner and before you let yourself fade away into sleepy wedding bliss, you’ll need to run down your “Night Before” checklist and make sure the following details are ready to go:

Everything is Packed, Labeled, and Ready to Load

When you are planning your wedding, create master lists of everything you need to bring to your ceremony and reception venues on the big day. Among these things, you will need:

  • The wedding license
  • Your rings
  • Gowns, tuxes, suits, shoes, belts, socks, wraps, and all of your accessories
  • Final vendor payments due on the wedding day as well as cash for gratuities
  • A copy of each of your vendor contracts and extra copies of your wedding day timeline
  • Any ceremonial or décor items in your possession that were not already delivered to the venue, such as a guest book, gift card box, programs, and toasting glasses

You’ll dramatically reduce your stress, of course, if you deliver most of these items to the wedding venues in advance, keeping highly valuable items in your possession at all times. Attach a packing list to everything you bring to help you keep track, and help your team pack up at the end of the event.

Confirm that Your VIPs Have All of the Important Directions and Times

During your wedding rehearsal or at your rehearsal dinner, go over the important times with your bridal party, immediate family, and anyone who has a special role to play on the wedding day. Introduce your event coordinators, and ensure that everyone knows who the point of contact for questions and problems is (and that it’s not you!).

Avoid Overindulgence and Get a Good Night’s Rest

While it can be tempting to take advantage of the fact that everyone you love is finally in one place, the night before your wedding is not the time to party ‘til you drop. Think of the money you’ve invested in your wedding ceremony and reception, and in your professional photography! Do you really want to spend the day with the worst hangover ever? Make rest a priority the night before and ensure that you are your best self the next day.

Treasure Every Moment

This is the time to start noticing the little things that make your romance special and your wedding a dream. Every great couple will tell you the same thing: “it goes by so fast”. Don’t waste time stressed or frazzled. Make a conscious decision to enjoy every detail from beginning to end. Start the night before the wedding so you don’t miss a thing!
The best possible way to make the last 24 hours before you say “I Do” a dream is to practice excellent wedding management from the start. Don’t leave things to the last minute. The early hard work will pay off more than you can know as the wedding gets underway.
